The Vocational Services team is led by Ms. Maria Ross, Occupational Therapist, with over 20 years of experience in vocational rehabilitation and recognized expertise in the area of work disability. Ms. Ross is a seasoned expert witness, testifying on the issue of work disability at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, FSCO Arbitrations, WSIB Tribunals, and CPP Tribunals. She has been accepted by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice as an expert in the areas of vocational assessment and rehabilitation, as well as occupational therapy.

Assessment Methodology:
Strong assessments will precisely measure what they set out to measure. Our innovative approach to assessment is based on a scientific understanding of work function combined with a well-resourced and spacious Situational Assessment Centre.
Imbedded in the clinical science of occupational therapy is an understanding that function is influenced by the environment. Based on this core theoretical foundation, over the last 15 years we have painstakingly developed a Situational Assessment Centre which can offer the activities and environment required to holistically evaluate function. In addition to our standardized clinical measures of physical and cognitive capacity, we have over 45 different standardized work samples, and internally developed work tasks available to us to support this objective.
In our experience, assessment of work function in context is a critical component of vocational assessment, which is very often overlooked.
Resources however are not enough, excellence is achieved only by coupling our resources with experience, a scientific understanding of work function, and rigorous assessment methods.
Services:
Ms. Ross will complete a Vocational Intake Assessment for clients referred for Vocational Services. Based on her findings, she will determine the specific assessment methodology or rehabilitation service which addresses the client’s needs and the objective of the referral.
