Active Exercise Program

Helping make the transition from physiotherapy to independent exercise smooth and safe is important. For this reason, exercises are prescribed individually and supervised to ensure accuracy and safety. You will work with our Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy Assistants to develop an appropriate exercise program based on your injuries and goals.

If you are new to exercise or uncertain as to where to begin, we would be happy to assist you with the transition to a gym, attending classes or self-motivated exercise.

We also offer additional instruction in Pilates based exercise and Yoga.

Group Hydrotherapy Pool Program

pool-physioThe aim of our group hydrotherapy class is to give patients freedom of movement while learning how to acquire proper body mechanics, increased range of motion, strength, coordination, re-introduction of weight-bearing and cardiovascular endurance in a controlled environment.

The water in the pool is chlorinated and kept at approximately 82 degrees F. There is also a dry sauna available for patient use.

The instructional portion of class runs for 45 minutes and the last 15 minutes is for open swim, relaxation and use of the sauna.

Equipment used in the pool program range from aqua joggers for deep water exercise, noodles, flutter boards, dumbbells and floatation hand disks. This equipment assists with increasing buoyancy and resistance.

Currently we offer Hydrotherapy sessions @ the Ottawa Street YWCA on Friday afternoon from
1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Please contact the clinic at (905) 777-9838 to register for the class.
